High Performance WeatherPRO windows
exceed the Energy Star standards in the vast majority of cases.
(Garden windows have lesser performance). Windows are rated by
U Value. The lower the U value the better for energy performance.
In the Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia and Western Washington areas a
U Value of .35 meets Energy Star Performance Standards. Many of
our windows have U Values of .28 which exceed Energy Star standards
by 20%!!!
There is variation in the rating by window style. The more opening
window vents the lower the U value because the formula takes into account
wind infiltration in high speed wind tunnel testing. Most of our opening
single hungs still retain an unbelievable U Value rating of .29. That
shows near perfect seals.
If you look at U values of many production windows
you will find a range of .35 to .49. Another way of looking at
these numbers is that they perform 20-60% worse than our WeatherPRO Window design.
Our windows perfom quite similar to many triple pane windows on
the market which is why can offer a 40% fuel savings pledge.
Check the Window Stickers
for Certification (Proof of Performance Statements)
In today's competitive window
industry, there is often an incentive to make things as cheaply
as possible. There is an incentive to tell people that your windows
have great performance values! High performance glass, top of
the line sealing systems, gas fill, etc. all cost money. One
way for companies to save money is to promise these things and
not deliver. The only way a consumer can know he is getting what
they paid for is buying a certified window. (One that has been
inspected)Some well known window companies have avoided certifying
their windows for years. Windows are supposed to be certified
and have a gold certification label by an independent testing
lab on the frame. When a window manufacturer agrees to become
certified they are agreeing to spot checks by an independent
agency to prevent the company from cheating homeowners by checking
that their energy ratings are honest.
WeatherPRO Windows
are built by LBL Windows for Northwest Home Improvement
Co.(NWHI) to meet their requirements. WeatherPRO Windows
come standard with features NWHI requires in order to offer
homeowners the additional warranties and the benefits that
NWHI believes homeowners want and need. All windows made for
NWHI feature High Performance Glass, Super Spacers(for superior
window performance and gas retention between the panes), Argon
gas fill, foam filled frames (except Bay, Bow, Garden window frames)
for added insulating value, interlocking sash rails for tight seals
and great locks. The end result is a fantastic certified performance
label and performace that rivals triple panes for a fraction of
the cost! Truly a great value for the public on a feature rich,
beautiful window.
